Bonsall, CA – Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash on I-15 Near Old Hwy 395

Bonsall, CA (October 17, 2025) – Authorities are searching for a hit-and-run driver involved in a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred on Tuesday, October 14, on the Interstate 15 Freeway near Old Highway 395 in northern San Diego County.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the collision happened in the pre-dawn hours when a vehicle struck a pedestrian on the southbound lanes of I-15. The driver fled the scene without stopping to render aid or notify authorities.

Responding officers located the victim along the freeway shoulder, but sadly, the individual was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim has not yet been released pending family notification.

Traffic in the area was impacted for several hours as investigators examined evidence and worked to determine the make and model of the suspect’s vehicle. CHP units are reviewing available surveillance and dashcam footage to identify and locate the driver responsible.
