San Diego County, CA – Pedestrian Killed in Crash on I-15 NB Near Old Hwy 395

San Diego County, CA (October 15, 2025) – A fatal crash occurred early Monday morning, October 13, on northbound I-15 near Old Highway 395, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).

Dispatch logs indicate the incident began around 12:35 a.m. when callers reported a man walking in the northbound lanes of I-15, waving at passing vehicles. Within minutes, the individual was struck by a vehicle near the Old Highway 395 interchange. Responding units confirmed the pedestrian’s death at the scene around 1:04 a.m., prompting authorities to issue a full freeway closure for several hours during the investigation.

The driver of the involved vehicle, described as a black Mercedes, remained at the scene and cooperated with officers. The vehicle was later towed to an evidence yard for further examination. CHP officers, along with CAL FIRE and local emergency responders, assisted in managing the scene and reopening lanes once the investigation concluded.

The identity of the victim has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this fatal incident.
