San Diego, CA – Fatal Motorcycle and Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-15/SR-163

San Diego, CA (September 20, 2025) – A deadly crash involving a motorcycle and at least two other vehicles occurred on Interstate 15 in the Miramar area on Saturday afternoon, September 20. The California Highway Patrol reported the collision happened around 3:30 p.m. in the southbound carpool lane near the freeway’s merge with State Route 163.

A witness told officers that a white Ford Mustang had pulled over to the right shoulder while a black BMW was stopped in the center divide. Responding officers located the motorcycle on the transition ramp connecting I-15 to SR-163.

Traffic was halted at Miramar Way, and the transition ramp was temporarily closed as authorities investigated. One person was confirmed dead in the crash, though CHP has not yet released details about whether the motorcyclist was the victim. The area remained blocked for an extended period while investigators examined the scene and crews worked to clear debris.
