Cajon Pass, CA (July 27, 2025) – A motorcyclist who lost his life in a tragic hit-and-run collision along northbound Interstate 15 early Friday morning, July 25, has been identified as 34-year-old Erek I. Brown of Victorville, the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office confirmed.
The deadly crash took place shortly before 1:00 a.m., near the truck scales just south of the Highway 138 interchange. According to investigators, Brown had reportedly run out of gas and was waiting on the freeway shoulder for his girlfriend, who was on her way to bring fuel. By the time she arrived, Brown had already been struck and was found lying in the roadway.
Despite the efforts of emergency responders and fire crews, Brown was pronounced dead at the scene due to the extent of his injuries.
The vehicle involved—a gray Scion—fled the scene following the impact. Authorities later discovered the abandoned car near the Highway 138 off-ramp, but the driver remains at large. The California Highway Patrol has launched a full investigation and continues to search for the individual responsible.
